The Manhattan Short Film Festival Leaves Little to Be Desired—Do Not Miss Out!
On Friday, October 4th, filmgoers in San Antonio will unite with over 100,000 film lovers across the world to view and judge the work of the next generation of filmmakers. Yes, that’s right—the immensely popular Manhattan Short Film Festival will return to URBAN-15 to show unforgettable screenings. This fall marks the 17th year the URBAN-15 Studio, one of four participating venues in Texas, will host the film festival.
Manhattan Short’s unique and enduring feature is that it offers cinema-goers a chance to become film critics, filling out a ballot after the screening that allows them to vote for Best Film and Best Actor. Votes will be sent to Manhattan Short HQ, and winners announced here on Monday, October 7th at 10 am EST.
“In times like these, cross-border events like Manhattan Short that contribute toward greater tolerance and understanding are needed more than ever. This project is not going to cable TV or Video on Demand, it’s about communities bonding together via their local cinema,” explained the festival’s founder, Nicholas Mason.
This year, Manhattan Short received 1565 short film entries from 73 countries, a testimony to the enduring vibrancy and creativity of the short film genre. The nine finalists hail from eight countries: Austria, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Kosovo, New Zealand, the USA, and the United Kingdom. These finalists bring together as part of one program an extraordinary range of film genres.
Tickets are $10 in advance at urban15.org and $15 at the door. For more information on film titles and directors, visit www.manhattanshort.com.
